Descriptions
One line
A browser-first 3D MMORPG where players set the prices, no two crafts come out the same, and money can only ever buy cosmetics.
Short (about 60 words)
The Great Cloud is a browser-first 3D MMORPG in development. Players gather, craft, trade and fight in one persistent world whose prices are set by what they make and destroy, not by vendors. Every craft rolls its own quality, so two players following one recipe rarely get the same result. Monetisation is cosmetic-only: nobody can buy power.
Long (about 180 words)
The Great Cloud is a browser-first 3D MMORPG from The Great Cloud, an independent UK studio. It is set in a world produced by something called the Great Cloud, which generates lands, creatures and resources and sometimes rewrites reality. Nobody agrees on what it is, and the game never settles the question.
The economy belongs to the players. Prices move with what everyone gathers, crafts, consumes and destroys, and a scarcity engine keeps the rarest items rare without letting them disappear. Loot is made, not dropped: every recipe runs through controlled randomisation, so quality and stats vary from craft to craft. Around that sit levels, gathering and crafting mastery, faction reputation, guilds, player housing, co-op raids and arena PvP.
Five factions argue over the Cloud: ChatNPC, The Order of Clawed, The Twin Minds, The Herd and The Oracle of Sparks. The game pays for itself through cosmetics alone. You can never buy combat power, levels, resources or an economic edge.
What makes it different
- A market with a pulse. One global, player-driven economy. The studio doesn't set the prices.
- Scarcity that adapts. Rarity is steered by how many players are active and how much already exists, so rare items stay rare and never go extinct.
- No two crafts alike. Crafting has controlled randomness, so what you make is yours.
- Never pay-to-win. Only cosmetics are for sale. Founder rewards give prestige, never power.
- A mystery that stays open. The Great Cloud is never fully explained, so the world can keep growing.
- More than one game. The same world has a puzzle game, Aether Refiner, and a strategy game, Cloudfall: Expeditions.
